First of all, let’s consider the company itself. We’re talking about LEGO here – a brand that’s been producing popular toys for generations. 

The LEGO Group currently has over 27,000 employees and offices around the world. So when you register with the lego.com affiliate program, you’re teaming up with a massive organization.

Also, I can’t find any reports of LEGO scamming its affiliates. This is hardly surprising! A company like LEGO isn’t likely to risk its reputation just to deny an affiliate their hard-earned commission.

LEGO partners with Rakuten Advertising to administer their affiliate program. I’ve used Rakuten for affiliate marketing for many years. Rakuten is a public company worth billions of dollars.

So, if there’s one thing you can take from my LEGO affiliate program review, it’s that the opportunity is 100% legit!

Is The LEGO Affiliate Program Worth It?

The LEGO affiliate program is worth it for anyone who has an audience to promote LEGO products online.

LEGO affiliates receive up to a 3% commission for products purchased through their links. That’s pretty good – but it’s not great. That’s why I think this affiliate program is best for people who take their online business seriously and can attract consistent web traffic.

Let’s say you just promote LEGO products to your 200 Instagram followers. Realistically, only a few people will actually buy something from LEGO. Let’s say 5 people use your link to buy products, and they spend $200 total. That means you’ll earn a whopping $6. To me, that’s not worth all the time it would take to become an affiliate and promote the products.

But let’s say you’ve got a popular website, blog, or social media account, and you can get 1,000 people to spend $40,000 total on LEGOs. Now, you’re looking at $1,200 in earnings – which is definitely worth it!

Basically, the LEGO affiliate is great for serious digital marketers, but not for people who just want to share a few links without putting in real effort.

Is this a problem? Not at all! Rakuten Advertising is designed to be user-friendly.

So how do you get started with LEGO affiliate marketing? Here’s a step-by-step breakdown:

  1. Head to the “affiliate” page on the official LEGO website.
  2. Click “Sign up” at the bottom of the page.
  3. Enter your name and email address to create an account with Rakuten Advertising.
  4. Share information about your online business – including the URL of your website or social media page.

Once you’ve registered with Rakuten Advertising and have been approved as a LEGO affiliate, it’s time to start promoting products and earning commissions! 

The LEGO affiliate marketing program pays affiliates in the U.S. up to a 3% commission. So if someone clicks through your affiliate link and buys a $100 LEGO set, you’ll earn $3. 

A 3% commission isn’t crazy high – but there’s a reason my LEGO affiliate program review is still so positive: LEGO affiliates get tons of support to help them land commissions. 

When you work with the lego.com affiliate program, you’ll get access to resources like:

At the very least you can email your fans whenever you publish new content.

What is The Catch With The LEGO Affiliate Program?

The closest thing to a “catch” with the LEGO affiliate program is that the commission rate is up to 3%. Some companies give affiliates a higher rate, especially for larger purchases. That said, 3% is still considered competitive – so this shouldn't be a deal-breaker! 

If you just love creating content about LEGO or toys, you can consider this as one of those fun hobbies to make money.

If you’re not trying to go big-time with your internet business, simply promoting LEGO to your existing social media audience can be a way how to make more money.

Is The LEGO Affiliate Program Safe?

The LEGO affiliate program is completely safe. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have written a positive LEGO affiliate program review in the first place!

At this point in our LEGO review program, it’s time to consider some pros and cons. 

Pros

  • LEGO is a famous company with massive brand recognition. You won’t have to waste time explaining what the products are. You can skip straight to promoting them.
  • The Rakuten Advertising platform that LEGO uses provides sales tracking. That means you can adjust your marketing strategies based on results.
  • You can receive free products. Best case scenario: This helps you earn commissions. Worst case scenario: You still get to play with free LEGOs!

Cons

  • The commissions top out at 3%. Is this awful? No – but it could be better. 
  • There’s no bonus for large purchases. With LEGO, 3% is 3%, even if you get someone to spend a million dollars on lego.com
  • Users report a $50 payout threshold. So, if you have less than that in your account, you won’t be able to access your earnings.

Someone on Reddit recently asked about the LEGO affiliate program. They’d seen a LEGO review program online, and they were wondering if it was a scam.

But the LEGO affiliate program is legit and you can make good money if you have a big following or know how to reach the right audience with advertising.

LEGO Affiliate Program Reviews BBB

The LEGO affiliate program doesn’t have a special page on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website – so we’ll have to look at the LEGO company in general. 

The BBB gives a C- grade to LEGO Systems Inc., which is the American branch of the worldwide LEGO Group. This grade is based on the 41 complaints that the BBB has received about LEGO.

There are also 3 negative reviews on the BBB’s LEGO page – but they’re about LEGO products and customer service, not the affiliate program.

So, on the entire BBB website, there isn’t a single LEGO affiliate program review. That means you shouldn’t let that C- grade keep you from signing up.
